SunCraft, NZ Ltd. is a local Arrowtown company managed by Kate Grubb, and partner Josef Fruhmann.
Our story
After having lived the expat life in Asia and Europe for many years, we visited Kate’s family in her hometown of Arrowtown for a few months over summer in 2018 on our way to settle in Josef’s hometown in Austria. This was Josef’s first trip to New Zealand and after only a few days in Arrowtown he had two questions; 1. “Why are we not going to live here?” & 2. “Why does no one have decent sun protection when everyone lives outside during summer?” He could not believe we were chasing around umbrellas to catch the shade when there was a much better option available – the Soliday retractable shade system.
Based in Austria, Soliday is one of the leading manufacturers of sophisticated retractable shade systems and Josef’s brother-in-law had worked as Technical Manager for Soliday for many years so Josef knows the product well. From here, our vision to create SunCraft NZ, Ltd. and become the exclusive distributor for Soliday products in the Oceania region was born.

The best part of our job is interaction with customers and seeing their faces light up when they extend their shade system for the first time and see the difference it makes to their outdoor area. Most have not been able to use their outdoor space to its full potential, so seeing how stoked they are with the finished product is a constant source of satisfaction.
